John's father was John Galloway and his mother was Margaret Mclachlan.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Galloway and Helen McLeod; his maternal grandparents were McLachlan and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died from cancer, carcinoma of liver, 19 months, at the age of 76 on September 21st, 1895 in Falkirk.²
