William Finlay

William was born in June 1756 in Queenzieburn and his baptism took place on June 13th, 1756 in Kilsyth.¹   William's father was Andrew Findlay and his mother was Margaret Semple.  His maternal grandparents were William Semple and Janet Brown. He had a brother and four sisters, named Andrew, Janet, Margaret, Agnes and Agnes.  He was the youngest of the six children.
