Birth. GRO ref:- Whitby 9d 451 Dec 1/4 1880 (yes) Death. GRO ref:- Whitby 1b 816 Jun 1/4 1959 Shown as a Milliner in 1901 census Bill Shears said that, when Fanny married Christopher Breckon Shears, she brought her 3 children into the marriage. Joe, Roger, and Mary. Bill does not know if Fanny had been married or had the children out of wedlock. I have since checked this information and it does not appear that Fanny was married when she had Joe, Roger, and Mary. There is no fathers name on Roger or Mary`s birth certificates. According to Peggy Shears, Jack`s wife, in her last years Granny Shears lived in Boltons Buildings in Cliff St. The people living in each of the three flats paid the princely sum of one shilling a week rent! Fanny was buried on May 13th 1959 in grave 5272 in Larpool Lane cemetery, WHitby. There is no headstone.
