    Need info on Van SWEARINGEN (also spelled SWEARENGAIN AND SWEARENHAM?) 1743-1797. Married a Ms. CLOUD. Died in Edgefield S.C. Lt. with the South Carolina Line during the Revolution. Daughter Hannah married CLEARMAN. Info needed: wife's name, parentage, siblings, other children.

    Hi Debra from Greenback, TN. I'm in Corryton, outside Knoxville.
    
    I have a Van Swearingen, b. abt 1743 in Edgecomb, NC who died in 1808. He
    married Rachel ? (may have been Rachel Cloud) around 1775. This Van
    Swearingen is the son of Thomas Swearingen & Lydia Permenter. The line would be
    Gerrit > Thomas > Samuel > Thomas > Van.

    The will of this Van Swearingen rec'd 20 May 1808 in Edgefield Co., SC
    mentions the following:
    wife ~ Rachel Swearingen

    John & Ancel
    executors ~ Thomas Swearingen, Fredrick Swearingen & Ezekiel McClandon
    witnesses ~ William Swearingen, Moses Swearingen & John Swearingen
    
    There is also a deed dated 7 Sep 1790, Edgefield Co., SC, between Capt. Vann
    Swearingen & Ezekiel McClendon, both of Edgefield Co., SC in which Van sells
    a 220 acre tract to Ezekiel Mc Clendon. It is signed Vann Swearingen Junr'.
    
    Unfortunately, I do not know the relationship of Ezekiel McClendon, if any,
    to the Van Swearingen family.
