Walter's father was David inheriter of Paynton Manor Stone and his mother was Elizabeth Jenifer.  His paternal grandfather was Capt Thomas Stone and his paternal grandmother is Martha Hoskins; his maternal grandparents were Dr Daniel Jenifer and Elizabeth Hanson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Michael Jenifer, John Hoskins, Daniel Jenifer, Ezekiel, Frederick, Grace, Catherine and Elizabeth Ann. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Samuel  LINK TO MARSHALL HALL LINE, David, Anne and Mary.  He died in 1791.
