William Alexander Marshall

William Alexander was born on August 16th, 1822 in Albemarle Co. , VA. William Alexander's father was Sarah Whitelaw and his mother was Willis Marshall. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Whitelaw and Elizabeth Crenshaw; his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named James Forsyth, David Whitelaw, Andrew Jackson, Mary Ann Elizabeth, Elizabeth Columbia and Carolina. He died at the age of 55 on April 10th, 1878 in Newark, Knox Co., Missouri.

General Notes
- William Alexander was a Major in the C.S.A. and a physician and served with his brother in law Col. Joe Porter.
  He graduated from St Louis Medical School in the class of 1849
  He went the 1849 California gold rush with his brother in law James Forsyth Marshall and returned in 1852 upon his fathers death.
