William was born in 1776.  William's father was Anthony James Marshall and his mother was Rachael Morse.  His paternal grandparents were William Marshall and Elizabeth Nason. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Richard, Isaac, Solomon, Abigail, Rachel and Mary Polly.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 52 in 1828.
