Dorcas was born about 1769 in Laurens Co SC.  Dorcas' father was Capt John Lightfoot and her mother was Ga-Ho-Ga Nancy Deer Clan (Ani'-Kawi' = Deer Clan (Ga-ho-ga)).  Her paternal grandparents were Phillip Lightfoot II and Mary Armisted. She had a sister named Nancy.  She was the younger of the two children.
