Francis Marion was born on February 28th, 1847 in Grayson Co, KY.  Francis Marion's father was Jacob Layman and his mother was Sarah Wilson.  His paternal grandparents were Michael Layman and Sarah Sturm; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Wilson and Winney Lee. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Valentine, Henry, Martha E and EMily.  He died at the age of 72 on November 17th, 1919 in Jefferson, KY.
