    Hi, while browsing through an issus of "Ansearchin News" I came across this and thought it might help. I am not related to this family.
    General Winfield Scott born Rutherford Co, Tenn 8 Aug 1820; admitted to bar 1840 in Houston, Chickasaw Co, Ms; to Holly Springs, Ms 1857, where he died 28 May 1891. His parents were Charles Featherston, native of Chesterfiled Co, Va and Lucy Pitts, native of Essex Co Va; married there 29 Jan 1795; family removed to Sumner Co Tn in 1815; settled in Rutherford Co 1818. He was the youngest of seven children three sons and four daughters. His military service was the Creek Indian "War in Ga 1836; hero in Civil war. He married first Mary Holt Harris of Columbus 1848. She was the daughter of Hon. Thomas W. Harris; she lived only a few months after the marriage. He married second, Lizzie McEwen on June 1858 daug of Col A.C. MCEwen of Holly Springs Miss. She died in 1878. He had eight children Charles and Lucius died in infancy; Joseph Winfield and Georgia L. died 1878 of yellow fever, along with their mother; Dudley M, Elise Pitts, Lilia Cloyd and Lucy Elose live in Holly springs.
