Edward Ortho Otho was born on November 24th, 1782 in Cresaptown, Allegany County, Maryland.  Edward Ortho Otho's father was Col Daniel Cresap Jr and his mother was Elizabeth van Swearingen.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Cresap and Ruth Van  T1 mtDNA line Swearingen; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Swearingen and Ann Ferrell. He had a brother and two sisters, named John Mercer, Ann Farrell Ferrell and Rebecca Ruth.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 34 on January 2nd, 1817 in Caldwell County, Kentucky.
