Charles was born in 1707.  Charles' father was Robert King Carter and his mother was Elizabeth Betty Landon.  His paternal grandparents are Col John Carter and Sarah Ludlow. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Landon, George, Ludlow, Robert, <Unknown>, Sarah, Elizabeth, Lucy and <Unknown>. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Judith and Ann.
