William was born in 1264 in Norton, Hampshire, England.1 William's father was John de Norton and his mother was Jeanne de Bar. His paternal grandparents were Count de Norton William de Morville and Jeanne Capet; his maternal grandparents were Theobald de Bar II and Jeanne de Touci. He had two brothers named Norville and Jacob. He was the oldest of the three children.-
