Regnier was born in 0885 in Hainault, Flanders, Belgium.1 Regnier's father was Regnier (Longhals) de Hainault I and his mother was Hersent France. His paternal grandparents were Count Giselbert de Darnau and Ermengarde (Irmgard) France; his maternal grandparents were Charles (The Bald) Roman II and Ermentrude Orleans. He had a brother named Giselbert. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 47 in 0932 in Meersen.1 Death Notes
