Mattie was born in 1886.1 Mattie's father was Gabriel and her mother was Arminta Boles. Her paternal grandparents were Elijah Warren and Louisa Elkins; her maternal grandparents were John Boles and Elizabeth Skaggs. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Burton, Charles, Gilbert, Emily and Dora. She was the oldest of the seven children.General Notes
