John W. was born in 1905 in Rockingham Co, NC. John W.'s father was William Price Roberts and his mother was Lula M. Baughan. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Henry Roberts and Lutisha T. Hopper. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jesse May, Ernest M., Robert Allen, Lillie P., Annie L. and Martha L.. He was the third youngest of the seven children.General Notes
