Aed's father was High King of Ireland Flaithbertach mac Loinsig and his mother was <Unknown>. His paternal grandparents were Loingsech mac Oengusso and Muirenn ingen Cellaig. He had two brothers and a sister, named Loingsech, Murchad and Dunflaith. He died in 0747.¹
