Joseph Jasper was born in 1840 in Morgan Co., IN.. Joseph Jasper's father was Wilburn KEMP and his mother was Ruth NORMAN. His maternal grandparents were William NORMAN and Mary Polly KEMP. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named Alfred, Stokely, William, Creed, Emery, Nimrod, Riley, Marion, Laura, Louisa, Lucinda, Maria A., America C., Sarah, Mary Ellen and Nancy. He was the seventh oldest of the seventeen children. He died at the age of 28 in 1868.-
