James Birney Gaylord 
James Birney was born on October 2nd, 1841 in Geneva, Ashtabula, OH.1 James Birney's father was David Lewis Gaylord and his mother was Sophia Brakeman. His paternal grandparents were Levi Gaylord and Lydia Smith. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Edward Harris, Erwin\Ervin Russell, Levi Brakeman, Frank Merriman, Emily Miller, Olive Ophelia, Elizabeth Ann and Flora Wheeler. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 58 on June 3rd, 1900.1 General Notes
