Samuel was born in 1806 in Calcutta, India and was baptised on 27-Sep-1809 in Fort St George, Madras, Tamil Nadu, India.12 Samuel's father was Samuel Thomas Goad and his mother was Jane M. His paternal grandparents were William Goad and Darling Thomas. He was the oldest of seven children. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Henry, Charles, George, Anna and Maria. He died, at the age of 70, on 13-Dec-1876. His burial was in Simla, India.1
