William was born in 1673 in Fittleworth and his baptism took place there on June 22nd, 1673.1   William's father was Thomas Steer and his mother was Elizabeth Croucher.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 71 in 1744 in Fittleworth.  The funeral took place on December 30th, 1744 in Fittleworth.  He was buried in Fittleworth.1
