Michael was born on March 31st, 1840 in Grasby.¹

Michael's father was Thomas Skinner and his mother was Emma Hill. His paternal grandparents were Edward Skinner and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Michael Hill and Elizabeth Peck. He had four brothers and a sister, named Theodore, Lewis, Augustus, Septimus and Mary. He was the third youngest of the six children. He died due to Cerebral Haemorrhage; Softening of Brain; Failure of Heart at the age of 61 on April 7th, 1901. The funeral took place in Keelby.¹

- He was a pillar of the chapel, being a respected local preacher, and so the scandal was the greater when, after the comparitively early death of his wife (when he was 45), his housekeeper became pregnant and he married her. This scandal so upset his three daughters that each of them got married as soon as opportunity presented.

Undertook dispensing at the request of the local doctor (Ralph Burnham), who fearing making a fatal prescribing error when under the influence of drink - to which he was partial. M. H. Skinner an early (?Founder) Meber of the Pharmaceutical Society and he did a good trade in medecines, not only for the people but also veterinary remedies and was credited with remarkable cures. A noebook exists, containing some handwritten prescriptions and others cut out of newspapers, etc.
