Lucy was born in 1803 in Farnham Royal, Bucks and her baptism took place there on January 16th, 1803.1  Lucy's father was Charles Saunders and her mother was Anne Burnhams.  Her maternal grandfather was Thomas Burnham and her maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Thomas, William, Mary Ann and Harriet.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 72 in 1875.2

Lucy and James were married in a religious ceremony on November 26th, 1826 in Farnham Royal, Buckingham, England by John T. Grov[ei][rn] Rector and witnessed by William Beman, Peggey Beman, her Mark X.4  They had three biological sons and four biological daughters, named Charles, Henry, Ambrose, Charlotte, Eliza, Emma and Kitty.  They also had an adopted daughter named Anna.
