Eleanor's father was William Letts and her mother was Jane Ward.  Her paternal grandparents were Michael Letts and Lucy; her maternal grandparents were Robert Ward and Lydia Everett. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Walter, Frank, Ernest, L, Annie and Lydia.  She was the oldest of the eight children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William, Walter and Eleanor.
