Ann was born in 1827 in Walton on the Hill, Surrey.1  Ann's father was William Letts and her mother was Jane Sadler.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Letts and Hannah Rappley. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Frederick, Joseph, Mary, Martha and Emma.  She was the oldest of the six children.
