Joseph was born on January 28th, 1841.1   Joseph's father was William Fenton and his mother was Hannah Wood.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Fenton and Peggy Armitage; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Wood and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, William, Sarah, Mary, Hannah and Lydia.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 27 on February 25th, 1868 in Huddersfield.1
