Thomas was born about 1835 in Westbury, Wiltshire.¹

Thomas' father was Job Beaven and his mother was Eliza Hancock. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mitchell and Betty dJoshua Beaven. Jane d.Joshua Beaven was his grandmother through his father's adoption. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Nathaniel, Job, Mark, Luke, Hannah, Jane and Eliza. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Alfred, George and Caroline. He died in 1880.
