"OBITUARY There passed away at Townsville recently a respectable resident of Townsville (formerly of Charters Towers) in the person of Mrs. Grace Gregory, at the age of 84. Mrs. Gregory, when quite a small child, came from England with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Chappel, in the early seventies, in the sailing ship Countess Russell, and landed at Broad Sound. The family's first home was at Peak Downs for two or three years. Afterwards, they moved to the Charters Towers goldfield, travelling by horse drays. The deceased lived in Charters Towers for a very long time, where she married and reared her family. Her husband predeceased her about 50 years ago. She eventually came to Townsville about 1915, and resided here with her son, George, up to the time of her death. Mrs. Gregory was of a retiring disposition, and was beloved by her many friends in both Townsville and Charters Towers. She is survived by three sons, George (Townsville), Henry (Ayr) and Albert (Giru), and by one daughter, Sylvia (Mrs. T. Morrison, Newcastle), also by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren."
Grace Nixon Richards GREGORY was buried, on the 14th February 1951, in the Belgian Gardens Cemetery, Townsville Qld. (according to the Townsville cemetery records.)
