“WEDDING . CURNOCK — LOCK:
A very pretty wedding was celebrated recently when Joyce May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Lock of 61 Sherriff Street, Hermit Park, was joined in Holy Matrimony to Louis Alfred (Jim), eldest son of Mrs. A. R. Curnock and the late Mr. L. G. Curnock, of Bondi. Sydney, at the Central Methodist Church, Townsville, the Reverend Vickery officiating.
The bride looked very charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father, who subsequently gave her away. Her lovely gown was of white lace over satin, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a shirred bodice with the skirt falling into a long train and with long sleeves with peaks over the hands. Her flowing embroidered veil was of silk tulle which was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of while roses and gerberas.
The bride was attended by Miss Barbara Taunton and Miss Beryl Hamilton. They were tracked in white organdi with Anglais lace bodice featuring the keyhole neckline. Their skirts were very full with peplems. Their hats were white picture hats and they wore white mittens and carried bouquets of red roses and gerberas.
The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Messrs Reg Feather and George Scarlett.
The bride's mother, assisted by Mrs. Dring, received the guests at the reception held at St. Matthew's Lounge. Mrs. Lock wore an aqua blue crepe frock trimmed with beads and black accessories, while Mrs. Dring wore lavender crepe with black accessories.
The couple left the following morning for their honeymoon at Magnetic Island.”
