Death Notes
Daniel died about 18 months after his wife, Winifred, from “intemperance and exposure”. His Death Certificate told nothing of his parents, marriage or family. He must have been apart from his family at his death. We can only surmise the circumstances.

Death Notes
There was a coroner's inquest into the death of Winifred Culloo, This was undertaken with a jury (see copy in documents). It seems both Daniel and Winifred drank alcohol frequently. They lived in a “right of way” off Little Collins Street. One night Daniel came into the neighbours asking for a candle. This would have been to place the candle near Winifred’s mouth to see if she was breathing. Remember no electric light. Margaret’s death must have been suspicious resulting in the Coroner’s Inquest. The neighbours and George Robinson (son in law) all attested that she had a drinking problem and hadn’t been well. One neighbour stated that there were no signs of violence on Winifred’s body. The cause of death was intemperance.
