Mary's father was Reuben Bashford and her mother was Susan Struter. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Rose, Charles, Charlotte, Caroline and Susan.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 58 on February 12th, 1942.  She was buried in Old Tweed Heads Cemetery.²
