Egide was born on September 19th, 1664 in Beringen and his baptism took place there on September 19th, 1664.1   Egide's father was Thomas Elens and his mother was Agnès (Anna) Gaethofs.  His paternal grandparents were Aegidius (Gilles ) Elens and Maria van Moll.  He had a brother and two sisters, named Paulus, Marie Adrienne and Johanna-Marguerite.  He died at the age of 31 in 1695.
