Guilielmus was born on October 16th, 1717 in Diest.1   Guilielmus' father was Joannes Colin and his mother was Magdalena Paels.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Colin and Eva Wiriex.  He had six brothers and two sisters, named Jan Baptist, Carolus, Jan Michael, Petrus, Bartholomeus, Arnoldus, Maria Elisabeth and Anna Elisabeth.  He was the sixth oldest of the nine children.
