Eddy was born on October 25th, 1955 in Hasselt.  Eddy's father is Jozef Bukers and his mother is Juliette Schoofs.  His maternal grandparents were Carolus Emilius Schoofs and Stephania Scholastica Theresia Loos.  He has two brothers and a sister, named Johan, Chris and Agnes.  He is the oldest of the four children.
