Livinius was born on November 26th, 1830 in Lummen. Livinius' father was Jan Postelmans and his mother was Maria Catherina Smets. His paternal grandparents were Arnold Postelmans and Marie Gertrude Windmolders; his maternal grandparents were Jan Smets and Maria Christia Misotten. He had a brother and two sisters, named Lodewijk, Coleta and Theresia. He was the youngest of the four children.-
