Michael was born on September 28th, 1698 in Heusden Zolder.1   Michael's father was Joannes Canners and his mother was Elisabeth Gaethofs.  His maternal grandparents were Antonius Gaethofs and Anna Franssens. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Petrus, Joannes, Antonius, Anna, Elisabeth and Catharina.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
