         Hester Holcombe was born in February 1684 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT;
    McCracken gives birth as Feb 1684, Seaver as 1682, McPherson as Feb 1684.3,4,5 She was the daughter of Nathaniel Holcombe and Mary Bliss. Hester Holcombe married Brewster Higley, son of Capt. John Higley and Hannah Drake, on 17 February 1708/9 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.6,7 Hester Holcombe died in 1760.
         Hester Holcombe was also known as Esther Holcombe.

    Daughters Elizabeth and Hannah were both great grandmothers of John BROWN of Harpers Ferry fame. Children: Brewster married first Esther HOLCOMB (daughter of John and Anna (PETTIBONE) HOLCOMB), and second Mrs. Mindwell BULL (Brewster and Esther became great great grandparents of Dr. Brewster HIGLEY VI, author of Home on the Range); David married Anna OWEN; Joseph married first Ruth HOLCOMB, second Sarah CASE, and third Eunice SMITH; Hannah married Elijah OWEN; Hester married Capt. Josiah CASE; John married first Apphia HUMPHREY, and second Mrs. CLARK; Elizabeth married Rev. Gideon MILLS; and Naomi married Solomon HUMPHREY.
