Catharine was born on September 12th, 1835.1   Catharine's father was William Laird and her mother was Janet Ramsay.  Her maternal grandparents were William Ramsay and Janet Thomson.  She had four sisters named Janet, Margaret, Isabella and Jean.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died  due to pneumonia at the age of 33 on November 28th, 1868 in Fordell, Dalgety.2
