Edward was born on July 21st, 1889 in Brompton, Adel, SA.1   Edward's father was James WHITING and his mother was Charlotte MEDLOW.  His maternal grandparents were Samuel MEDLOW and Charlotte BOSTON. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Herbert, Albert, Stanley, Edith, Amy and Elsie.  He was the third youngest of the seven known children.
