Rita was born on November 1st, 1912 in Kadina, SA.1   Rita's father was Ernest David EDYVEAN and her mother was Elsie SHARMAN.  Her paternal grandparents were David EDYVEAN and Ann TRETHEWEY; her maternal grandparents were Henry SHARMAN and Elizabeth MACKMAN. She had a brother and three sisters, named Cyril, Gladys, Edna and Doris.  She was the youngest of the five children.
