George was born on August 8th, 1899 in Gawler South, SA.1 George's father was John Henry CAUSBY and his mother was Ellen Mary WARD. His maternal grandparents were Alfred Samuel WARD and Julia RENDELL. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Frank, Alfred, Leonard, James, Charles, Olive, Nellie, Ethel and Elva. He was the second youngest of the ten children.-
