Dorothy was born on April 20th, 1897 in Cleve, SA.1   Dorothy's father was George BOWSHIRE and her mother was Sarah Ann STANDLEY.  Her paternal grandparents were John BOWSHIRE and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Robert STANDLEY and Sarah Ann BROWN. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Robert, Bennal, Isabella, Sarah, Eva, Ethel and Vivanner.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
