David was born in February 1949.  David's father was Jacob Alberthus and his mother was Aletha Lodya Paulus.  His paternal grandparents were Matias Alberthus and Agnes Balthazar. He had four brothers named Lefinus, Yohanis, Hendrik and Motje.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
