    Rufus and Caroline worked at Camden Park. At the end of the 1850's therewere some 160 farms on Camden Park and the size of the holdings varied agood deal as more successful tenants were given additional areas. With the floods and rust problems of 1860 and 1861 many people left thedistrict and the total number of tenants declined from 167 in 1862 to 120in 1869. The grown sons of many Camden farmers moved on by the end of the 1870'sto the Yass, Cootamundra, Junee and Wagga areas. A list of Camden Park tenants in about 1880 shows seventy three originalmen or their widows, most of them supported by the labour of children whostayed behind. Another twenty three tenants were sons who had taken overon the death or departure of their parents. The remaining thirty werenew though many had some other long association with the place. Farm 6, as the 229 1/4 acre lease was designated, situated directly underthe section of the Razorback Range known as Mount Hunter. Obituary of Mr Rufus White "Again we have the sad duty to announce the death of one of our oldestsettlers in the Camden district. The late Mr Rufus WHITE of Cawdor, forsome time past had not been in good health although he was up and aboutcarrying on his daily avocation's on his farm. On Sunday last the 20thinst. The deceased gentleman passed away. Mr WHITE had resided 43 yearsin this district, a native of Somersetshire, England he was born in theyear 1820 and at early manhood with his wife and family came to New SouthWales; on his arrival Mr. WHITE was engaged by the late Mr. WilliamCHANNEL to work on his farm at Elderslie, and subsequently on his farm onthe Camden Park Estate. Mr. WHITE seeing the advantages of the newcountry and with the spirit of advancement, shortly after rented a farmfrom the Camden Park estate on his own account, and on that farm heworked his allotted time; a hard working man with the strictest sense ofintegrity. The late Mrs. Rufus WHITE the mother of the present familydied some 19 years since. Mr. WHITE was twice married, Mrs WHITEsurviving her husband. There are 5 sons and 4 daughters still living,several of whom are in good positions in the Wagga Wagga and the Juneedistricts. Mr. WHITE was buried on Monday last at the Cawdor Cemetery,the Rev. R. CALDWELL officiating. The funeral was largely attended, andMr. J.D. RANKIN conducted the funeral arrangements."
