Thomas was born in January 1784 in Shermanbury, Sussex, , England.  Thomas' father is Robert Stoner and his mother is Mary Stenning. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Phillip, Mary and Sarah.  He is the youngest of the six children.
