David was born about 1081. David's father was Malcolm III Dunkeld 'Caennmor' King of Scots and his mother was Margaret (St. Margaret) Atheling 'the Exile'.  His paternal grandparents were Duncan I Dunkeld 'the Gracious' King of Scots and Sybilla (Sibyl) (or Elflaed) Fitzsiward; his maternal grandparents were Edward 'Atheling' 'Edward 'the Outlaw'  and Agatha Von Brunswick. He had a sister named Matilda.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died on May 24th, 1153.
