Daniel's father was Peter Grimm Sr. and his mother was Christina Bash (Grimm). His paternal grandparents were Andrew Grimm and Margaret ? (Grimm); his maternal grandparents were Andreas Bash and Barbara Haines (Bash). He had six brothers and two sisters, named Peter, John, David, Paul, Joseph, Samuel, Mary and Elizabeth.
