Edna May Briggs 
Edna was born in 1908 in Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire.1 Edna's father was Thomas Briggs and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Smith. Her maternal grandparents were Charles Smith and Mary Ann Storey. She had three brothers and a sister, named Lawrence, Harry, William and Mabel. She was the youngest of the five children.
