Herbert, known as Merrie, was born on December 1st, 1910 in Cape Town, SA.  Merrie's father was Herbert Henry Price and his mother was Lillian Amy Young.  His maternal grandparents were Young and Lavinia. He had four sisters named Vivienne, Betty, Cynthia and Barbara.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 80 on December 1st, 1990.
