Mechthild was born on February 11th, 1912.  Mechthild's father was Friedrich Peschel and her mother was Eva Pollack.  Her paternal grandparents were Friedrich Georg Peschel and Therese Friederike Oberhinninghofen; her maternal grandparents were Daniel Pollack and Caroline Eifler. She had three sisters named Klara, Ingeborg and Käte.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died from cancer at the age of 49 in 1961.
